This month’s selections include one of my favorite
“finds” – The Bakery Hill Cab – The owner/winemaker, Christian Canute
at the ripe old age of 28 has really figured it out.
I’m quite sure you will enjoy this selection as much as I have.
We are currently planning a 10 day trip to Italy starting on September 6th 2007.
Of course you will be visiting a few wineries….o.k. maybe a lot of wineries….
If you are interested in this trip, please let us know as soon as
possible so that we may plan accordingly.

And now this month’s line-up;

Vixen White Blend
Grapes; Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Rousanne.
Layered flavors are Lemon, Lime, and Nutty with some
Honeysuckle and Almond.

Rusden 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Bakery Hill
“Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 20-year-old vines and aged in neutral French and American wood, the 2005 Bakery Hill possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as licorice, underbrush, black currant, and tar-like aromas. With fabulous fruit and richness along with medium to full body, it tastes like a $75 Napa Valley Cabernet. Enjoy this beauty over the next 7-10 years.” 92 points, Wine Advocate

2 Red Club

2004 Charles Cimicky Trumps Shiraz Barossa Valley
“Deep violet. Sexy aromas of candied blackberry, cherry cola and licorice, with a subtle floral element and sexy oak spices. Plump and smooth, the blackberry flavor showing superb sweetness and supported by a supple tannic structure. Finishes on an expansive note of dark berries, with a late hint of fine tannins.”
90 Points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Moniz Chardonnay ~ San Giacomo Vineyard
Those who have experienced Moniz Pinot Noir and Moniz Cabernet Sauvignon can now enjoy the newly released San Giacomo Vineyard Los Carneros Chardonnay that we were thrilled to taste a couple of weeks ago. The medium bodied Chardonnay opens with lemon peel, pineapple, and lightly baked apple, and has a rich and luscious mouth feel dominated by citrus flavors, caramel, nutmeg, and just a hint of brown sugar. The long, complex finish exudes notes of lemon drop, butterscotch, and a hint of limestone minerality
Extremely Hard To Find Wine...Very small production but of the Highest Quality.
Only 450 Cases Produced

Annabella Cabernet Sauvignon ~ Napa Valley
A full flavored wine with medium body and a rich concentration of fruit.
This complex and elegant wine has a wonderful nose of black cherry and
Currant. A subtle amount of American Oak creates a lingering finish.
Because of their popularity and limited production, the Annabella wines are
allocated on an annual basis.
This wine will pair perfectly with lamb, beef or a full bodied cheese.

2 Red Club

2004 Lang & Reed Cabernet Franc ~ Napa Valley
Brilliant deep ruby red with a splash of violet hue, the color of this wine
invites the eye. The aromatics express a very pure statement of Cabernet Franc, gentle perfume, slight bramble and white cherry, laced with a touch of fine herb.
The flavors are a mix of sweet cherries and blueberries with a faint cedar sweetness and spice. The finish has good, crisp 'cherry pit' acidity with nice fruit tannin to support a lengthy finish.

This month’s selections include a slightly sweet French Vouvray that
is just right for sitting by the pool during those hot days.
(Also great with trendy salads & fish)  The reds we are featuring are some from the Marietta Cellars – The winery is located just outside the little town of Geyserville in one of California's premier wine growing regions, Sonoma County. Owner and winemaker Chris Bilbro initially founded Marietta Cellars in 1979 in an abandoned cow barn in the Dry Creek Valley. Over the past 28 years, Chris has developed a product of incredible consistency both in quality and price with relatively complete anonymity. If you wish to procure additional bottles, simply call me at the number below or e-mail me at JetsKen@cfl.rr.com ~ Enjoy!

2005 Champalou Vouvray
Chenin Blanc from the Vouvray appellation in the Loire Valley. Pale, white gold in color.
Fresh peach & honey scents along with subtle floral notes In the mouth, Champalou is both dry & surprisingly stout. It is quite crisp, yet also, weighty on the tongue. This Vouvray offers simple fruit flavors of peach with hints of fresh squeezed OJ.

Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot # 43 ~ Geyserville, California
Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine that is round, smooth, “Zinfandel-like,” and noted for its balance, approachability, and consistency. It is primarily comprised of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignane as well as smaller amounts of Cabernet and Syrah. Various Italian varietals round out the blend. The entire production of Old Vine Red has been completely allocated since 1978.

2 Red Club

2004 Marietta Cellars Zinfandel ~ Geyserville, California
The ’04 Zin is a big, rich, evenly balanced wine with lush raspberry fruit. Ripe blackberries dominate the palate yet the wine is balanced and round. This is a lush mouth filling wine that will compliment a variety of foods with its balance and lingering finish. A slight departure from the briary styles of the past, this is a slightly lighter, clean, fruit driven wine. Drinkable now, this wine has the staying power to last for 5-10 years.

December 2008 - Greetings Wine Club Members!

Happy Holidays!
Hope all is well with everybody and that you’re having a great start to your Holiday Season!
For this month’s wine selections, we are featuring a wonderful Chardonnay from Napa Valley and one of our favorite Pinot Noirs from Los Carneros/Napa Valley called Moniz.
For the 2 red Clubbers, you will have the opportunity to check out the Tres Picos Garnacha.
Year after year this wine is consistently outstanding….I think you’ll agree.

We hope you enjoy the wines as much as everyone here has!
From all of us here at the Sanford Wine Company, Thank You for Your continued support,
Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for a Prosperous New Year - All The Best!

Saintsbury Chardonnay – Napa Valley/Los Carneros California
The 2006 Chardonnay unites brilliant flavors with just the right structure and palate-feel.
The flavors are classic citrus and pear — concentrated and focused nicely in the mid-palate.
It has terrific length, is fully flavored, and finishes crisply.

Moniz Pinot Noir – Napa Valley/Los Carneros California
Smoky aromas of Wild Strawberry, Ripe Plum, and subtle hints of Sweet Vanilla
pervade the nose. Rich flavors of Bing Cherry, Rhubarb, and Toasted Oak
accompany a silky mouth feel and a lingering finish of Spice and Red Fruit.

2 Red Club Members

Tres Picos Garnacha – Spain
Year in and year out this is simply one of the most delicious wines out there, and
also one of the most requested by our customers.
While big and juicy, this wine opens nicely with complexity of flavor.
A continuation of the black raspberry found on the nose is presented in a bright, tangy way
backed by finely ground white pepper, dried herbs and a warm clay-like earthiness.
91 points – Jay Miller/Wine Advocate
